Testimonials
Reflecting Equity was founded after our CEO, Dr. Chrissy Stachl, showed that it is possible to make a STEM academic community more inclusive.
While completing her Ph.D., Chrissy leveraged her research background as a chemist and an educator to (1) assess her department’s academic climate; (2) design and implement interventions to directly combat the disparities revealed by the data; and (3) use the department’s existing organizational structure to create institutional change.
After three years, she had quantifiable evidence that her department’s academic climate improved. This accomplishment included positive changes in mentoring interactions and members’ overall sense of belonging, inclusion, and value within the community.
The success of Chrissy’s efforts at Berkeley stemmed from her commitment to involve all community members in decision-making processes and to foster common ground among faculty leadership and the graduate student body. These principles continue to ground Chrissy’s work as a consultant.
Reflecting Equity uses practical, evidence-based methods to help our clients engage in systemic, organizational change. We offer:
evaluation
workshops and trainings
talks
strategic planning
accountability for long-term projects
and more!
We also work with our clients to create spaces for difficult and vulnerable conversations, and facilitate community conversations (such as town halls or focus groups).
We have worked with academic, non-profit, biotech, and other communities to help professors, instructors, administrators, and senior managers understand the needs of their community members and identify practical ways to promote a more inclusive culture. We have also given a plethora of talks to audiences across the globe, and have published several research articles to document the changes we have made to workplace climate.
